Prayer Guide for the 2013 Mission Trip


Saturday, July 13 The team departs this morning for Jacksonville.
Please pray for:
§  Travel mercies for the group
§  Families and friends at home   
§  The Lord to be honored
Scripture to pray: “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” -Ephesians 6:18

Sunday, July 14 After worshipping with the congregation at Mandarin UMC, the team will go to a water park, spend the evening in orientation, build community with each other, and establish a basic plan for the week.
Please pray for:
§  Building of our community
§  All members to be devoted to Christ
Scripture to pray: Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.  Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.  If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.  If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ…” -1 Peter 4:9-11

Monday, July 15 The team begins their work schedule at the following 3 agencies:  City Rescue Mission-provides food, shelter, and clothing to those in need, Sanctuary on 8th-helps children find their way to productive futures, and BEAM-helps keep families in their homes by getting them back on their feet.
Please pray for:
§  Flexibility for group members and the agencies
§  Patience
§  Energy
Scripture to pray: “Let your light so shine before men that they shall see your good works” -Matthew 5:16

Tuesday, July 16 The team follows a “typical” daily schedule.
Please pray for:
§  Jesus to be our standard
§  Unity among our team
§  Openness among the recipient

Scripture to pray: “For this reason since the day we heard about you, we
have not stopped praying for you.  We continually ask God to fill you with knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.” -Colossians 1:9-10

Wednesday, July 17 The team has the day off.  This is a fun day, scheduled to provide rejuvenation.
Please pray for:
§  Rest for the weary
§  Rejuvenation of body, mind, and soul
§  Gratitude for what we have
Scripture to pray: “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
-Psalm 30:5

Thursday, July 18 The team continues their service at the local agencies.
Please pray for:
§  Endurance
§  Boldness to share our faith
§  Seeds that have been planted
Scripture to pray: “To whom much is given, much is required” -Luke 12:48

Friday, July 19 The team concludes their week working at the agencies.
Please pray for:
§  The team to be encouraged and spread encouragement in Jacksonville
§  Spiritual conversations to occur
Scripture to pray: “Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.” -Philippians 2:1-2

Saturday, July 20 The team is headed home!
Please pray for:
§  Those at home to be blessed by reports of this trip
§  The team’s re-entry to their normal routine
§  God to speak to each participant in a powerful way
Scripture to pray:  “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.” -Numbers 6:24-26
