Valle Crucis, Day 2

Hi! We had a great time at Valle Crucis this afternoon. We hiked up to the waterfall and some of us did the polar plunge. It was COLD! The sixth graders thought it was really cool. Then, we had free time. We played blob tag, can jam, football, and just hung out. Then, we ate lasagna and ice cream for dinner in the cafeteria upstairs. Then, we had Mr. and Mrs. Valley Crucis! The winners are (drum roll please) Sydney and Joey. We also learned how to do the cup song to "This Little Light of Mine". Then, we had the 8th grade spotlight and it was very emotional. We also had fun decorating candleholders to remind us to go light  our world. After that, we got sweatshirts and glow in the dark bracelets. Then, we went to the graveyard and Jimbo told ghost stories and the boys screamed like girls.

On Friday evening we drove up to Valle Crucis. We stopped at Bojangles, Taco Bell, and the waffle house for dinner. We got here around 9 and 9:30. That night we talked about guidelines and what's expected out of us. After that we played a name game and had a lot of fun. After we played the game we did a devotion were we introduced our theme G.L.O.W. which stands for God Lights Our World. We read Matthew 5:14-16 about God being the light of our life.We turned out all the lights and each got a glow stick. We made a cross out of glow sticks and took a picture. After we did that we had a bonfire and made s'mores. After we finished the s'mores the boys went back to their cabin and the girls went to their room. We talked a little bit and then went to sleep. I love coming to Valle Crucis because I get closer to my church friends and get closer to God. I can't wait for the rest of the weekend and next year. -Emily Graham

Saturday morning we woke up and went to breakfast. After breakfast we came down stairs and sang songs, played trust games, and did devotion. We also acted out situations that happen in school and read bible verses. We painted ceiling tiles based on the bible verse we had. Then we went to lunch and ate, after lunch we finished devotion. Then after devotion we talked about the activities for the rest of the day and then went to the Mast General Store. Now we are having free time which includes crafts and games. We can't wait for the rest of the day.      ~Rhiannon Smith ~Brayden Farmer

The eighth grade girls have talked about what we did but they have not indulged into the meaning of it. All the games we did were not just for fun but also for the meaning of being a child walking in the light. All we have talked about is the fun we have had and the serious times but everything has been meaningful. Walking with God is like walking in heaven. People should not think about their past sins but the future we have with God. We are the light that God put on the earth so we need to shine bright. With God beside us at  all times we will always shine brighter than the sun. I believe that Valle Crucis is an escape route from all the sin and pressure of life. Valle Crucis  is a time to relax and focus on God so I personally am sad to think that it will soon be over. As the Clemson Quarterback Tajh Boyd says that God is the most important person in our lives. ~Joseph Buckner
